I don't really make videos, but would just love to make some commentary ones with gameplay showing as I talk. Any recommendations on what video making software I can use that's free?

OBS Is free and pretty simple, To counter the audio+video issue, Just mute the program and record with your computers integrated audio recorder.

Of course there's also Fraps, Which is shit quality most the time, But it works.

Bandicam for anyone who still uses it.

Evolve but that requires a bit looking into.

Well if I ever did recording I'd use OBS you can record using it, and if you have it set for streaming already it makes it easier to convert to recording :)

You serious? Thought it was just for streaming...

I don't really wish to explore more with this software as I only use it to stream. I want stuff that's similar like whatever happened to "Windows Movie Maker" or "Sony Vegas" or what else is there? Cause OBS doesn't agree with me with putting video and audio recording of my voice together.

Maybe try using audacity for voice and you may need to change the file the obs recording is saved as (starts as something weird and I had to change it to mp4 to edit with!) As for editing, not sure... I guess you could use movie maker like you said: www.windows-movie-maker.org/

Sounds like OBS doesn't have editing. That's the type of stuff I'm looking for, a video maker that does have editing and stuff.

OBS is for recording, you could always just upload it raw, or use windows movie maker, since movie maker isn't a recording software either.

Seconding OBS.  It streams, but it can also record gameplay and mic.  Does it not work for you?  Do you have the latest version?  If you have an Nvidia card, then shadowplay is VERY efficient when it comes to recording, but it doesn't pic up the mic.

Is this what people use now these days to make videos or what?...

Curious to know that, because last time I ever made videos was so long ago back when Youtube was different in design. I used to work on videos with "Windows Movie Maker" dude, you think OBS has a similar mechanic of dropping in clips with a timeline and such?

People use it because it's free.  Sadly, I don't make enough movies to know what would be convenient.  I'm just saying what I've heard on 4chan and Reddit.

Can never really go into forum stuff. So vast and, I'd get lost. >.<

4chan and reddit think that's was common, but I just kind of have to disagree. I rather want to keep that software for the only purpose it's namesake has. Just to stream, not video make I'm afraid.
